Adapting Stock Art

There are some very good reasons for using stock art in graphics production - money and time.  Designs based on stock art can be turned out more quickly and at lower budget levels than all original art. And use of stock art can make the whole concept to composition phase go much faster, both for the client and the designer.  If a client finds a stock image or art that they like, then the building blocks quickly come into place for the overall piece.
In this project, we had a very tight timeline, and the owner had specific ideas about what he wanted based on stock images he found. We adapted a stock image for use in this project to work on a horizontal plane and to convey the owner's desired messaging. Yes, there's quite a bit of pen work to create sketched art from images, but the result is far superior in both appearance and applicability with fully vectored art.
