A new class of TP52 was soon to be launching on the West Coast focused on coastal and in port racing on the left side of the Americas. The class founder needed a class logo which would be applied to the mainsail, used for clothing, digital media and a heap of other branding uses. There were bounds on size and shape and it needed to maintain some relevancy to the TP52 logo.
If you've ever seen a class logo on a mainsail, they are by and large as boring as standing in line at the DMV. I wanted to do something a little different, but my creative brief required an overall shape/size to be 'street legal'.
With a little bit of throwback to the emergence of street art in the late 70's, we came up with something that had a true west coast feel and lilt. Read my sketch book notes.
