The design brief for this project revolved around a special canine named Lola - and of course the famous Kinks song. As the family dog Lola was a standard poodle, we decided to go with an 'uptown' look in a modernized art deco typography style.
The colors were inverted for the transom and a large naming treatment was the right call for this lettering style. For the stern quarters, we added a poodle graphic with the poodle stepping out of the "O" in the name for a little flair!
To get that poodle fur look, we created a set of brushes in Illustrator to get the tail pom pom and her coif just right!
She's a happy sight on San Francisco Bay where she is frequently in charter.
